So every once in a while, I actually get out of the office and get to break out the camera. It doesn’t happen as often as I would like. But over the past several months I’ve gotten out a few times, and I even took a few that I like. Here’s a few shots I like that I’ve taken since starting at The Standard in July.
I’ll try to be better about updating more often in the future.
In early January I traveled to San Antonio for the Army to shoot photos of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. In its 12th year, the game features the top high school football players from around the country and boasts such distinguished alumni as Adrian Peterson, Mark Sanchez and C.J. Spiller, just to name a few.
My job was to document a lot of the activities involved in the Army’s outreach effort off the field, but I did get a chance to shoot the first half of the football game and I also spent half a day with the marching band while it practiced. What I miss most from my days as a photojournalist is shooting sports. I’m a little rusty, but I got a couple photos I thought were worth sharing.
The marching band was also fun to shoot. I love shooting musicians and their instruments, and the weather and light was glorious the day I was out there.
